Chronic Indecision

Where the lips are silent the heart has a thousand tongues.
― Rumi

You overlooked the hippo in the room.

You can’t get out of your way despite your best intentions. To make a sensible decision with the available information has always been the mindset. Yet, the decision-making process is burying you.

You’ve noticed a part of you is angry at yourself – this has been building up for some time. You also recognized that you’re even anxious when decisions that appear less substantial are in front of you.

Self-confidence is waning, and you feel some anxiousness in your stomach. Coping up to now has been about sweeping it under the rug, expecting it to vanish.

What’s missing?

Gain an understanding of your Middle Space.

Some consider this space, the in-between place, enchanted. I frankly don’t know what this means – this space is deeply personal for each of us.

The middle place, the indecisive space, is far from being charmed or special for you. That space might be trying to tell you something, however. That middle space may carry a message or multiple messages.

The counseling process is laser-focused on checking out what your indecision is trying to express fundamentally in terms of its spirit and substance.

Indecision is exhausting.

The anguish to get this decision and future decisions right is exhausting and unwinnable.

Sometimes your indecisiveness is about a lack of a larger purpose, motivation, lingering stress, or little energy.

Whatever the cause, you want to find a way through this, it’s hurting you.

Clean up the knots and tangles.

Saying someone suffers from chronic indecision fails to identify the root cause of that indecisiveness. There are likely multiple stresses that compound and distract you, some you know well and some you don’t.

We will work to disentangle that web of emotions and thoughts that are constraining and deflating you.

We will look at the ways you find comfort outside and within yourself, what you call upon for your strength, what you fear, what causes you to feel indifferent, and what you find appalling.

How you live with regret, what makes you feel strong, and how you live with agency are matters of significance to us as well.

It’s time to notice the hippo.

Dealing with chronic indecision requires more than giving the hippo a name. Finding a solution means finding out why the hippo is present in the first place.

My role is to provide guidance and accompany you on this road to discover more clarity and self-assurance. We take this journey together, but you must take the first step and pick the path.

Let’s gain an understanding of your middle space so that you can become more decisive.
